We invite you to participate in the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad

Students of various technical specialties related to the creation and operation of computer-controlled mechanisms (for example, computer-integrated production complexes, applied hydroaeromechanics and mechatronics, hydraulic machines, hydraulic drive and hydropneumatic automation, packaging technology, and other)

Every year in November, the Department of Applied Hydroaeromechanics and Mechatronics of the Mechanical Engineering Institute holds the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad "Mechanotronics in Mechanical Engineering". The Olympiad is a unique event due to its theme, methodology and equipment and is held in the form of team and individual competitions.

The history of the Olympics begins in the spring of 2009. The team of the department of applied hydroaeromechanics and mechatronics, together with the Ukrainian representative office of the company "FESTO", appealed to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. And already in November, the teams of the Kyiv and Kharkiv Polytechnic Institutes, other technical universities of Kyiv, Sumy, Alchevsk, Donetsk and Sevastopol (a total of 8 teams) started the first mechatronics competition. Over the years that have passed since then, the Olympics have been gaining popularity. Every year, the geography of participants expands. The complexity of the tasks and the qualifications of those who participate in them are increasing. In 2013, teams from Lutsk and Khmelnytskyi joined the Olympic family. In total, 17 teams from different parts of Ukraine came to compete.

The Olympiad takes place in a not quite traditional form, since instead of a purely theoretical solution to competition tasks with a standard set of answers, the participants have to propose their own principled solution, the correctness of which is confirmed by the assembly of a real system on the stand. This form of competition is unique for Ukraine, as the participants of the Olympiad actually undergo an accelerated training course on the development and adjustment of production systems using real industrial equipment. Participation in this Olympiad will be interesting from the point of view of gaining practical experience, not only for future engineers, designers and specialists in the assembly of production systems, but also for programmers, as it allows you to get acquainted with "iron", the principles of its operation and learn about possible difficulties and peculiarities that arise during assembly and adjustment of production systems.

The essence of the competition is to solve problems related to real production. The workability of the solutions proposed by the participants is checked on mock-up stands. The rules are quite simple: after drawing lots, the teams receive a task, propose their scheme, an algorithm for automating the given process, choose equipment for implementation, assemble and configure the system on the stand. During the Olympiad, the teams alternately go through four stages: pneumatics, electropneumatics, programming the control algorithm of hydraulic and pneumatic systems on the controller.

Another feature of the Olympics is the friendly atmosphere. The competition is really "student", because a large part of the work on organization, preparation of equipment, arrangement of teams in dormitories, arrangement of training on stands is performed by KPI students. Experience shows that this format of communication with peers, not teachers, makes the "life" of the participants as comfortable as possible.

We invite the students of your educational institution to take part in the annual All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad "Mechanotronics in Mechanical Engineering".
